Here, a computer ages faster than in mainland France. Heat and humidity clog the fans and dry out the thermal paste. A laptop that heats up, blows hard and switches itself off almost always has a cooling problem: it's not fit for the bin.
Power cuts and storm micro-outages damage power supplies and corrupt the system. It's the leading cause of Windows machines that won't start any more on our workbench.
Otherwise, what we see most: a PC that has become very slow (often an old hard disk, which we replace with an SSD for €80, cloning included), repeated blue screens, a computer infected after a fake delivery or health-insurance text message, Wi-Fi that doesn't reach the back of the house, a printer that won't talk to the router, a battery that no longer lasts the day.
When the machine is no longer worth repairing, we tell you. We can then recover your photos and documents to put them on the new computer.
On a PC too slow for Windows, we often suggest Linux. The machine becomes fast again for office work and the internet, and you don't buy anything. We earn less than by selling hardware, but it's what actually helps you.
