An assistant that doesn't just answer: it acts on the machine. You speak, MAIA understands and decides, BOB carries it out locally — opening an application, setting the volume, reading the system's state. The intelligence runs on the computer, not in the cloud.
This separation isn't cosmetic: it decides what leaves your machine and what never does.
It interprets the request, chooses the right engine and determines the action to carry out. It never touches your system directly.
An agent installed on the computer, which only accepts authenticated orders and exposes nothing on the network.
Tested on the development machine, by voice and by keyboard. This isn't a list of intentions: each of these actions genuinely runs.
"Open the calculator", "close the browser". The application really opens, and stays open even if the agent restarts.
Processor, memory, disk space, battery. The figures shown above come from there.
"Set the volume to 40", "pause". The volume is applied to the system. Playback is controlled if a compatible player is open — otherwise the assistant answers that nothing is playing, it doesn't claim to have acted.
Dictation in French, then a reply read aloud when you ask for it. Worth noting: transcription currently goes through the browser's voice engine — on Chrome, the audio passes through its servers. Moving to fully local transcription is part of the roadmap.
A model installed on the machine translates the request into an action. No sentence is sent to an outside service.

The Windows version has been withdrawn while we fix it : our own tests show it doesn't work correctly once installed the way a user would. We'd rather publish nothing than publish something broken.

Stated here just as in the application: as long as a service isn't genuinely connected, the assistant declines the request instead of inventing a result.
Reading, sorting and summarising e-mails requires authenticated access to the mailbox: a security matter in its own right, handled only once it's solid.
Viewing and creating appointments requires a calendar connector. It doesn't exist today.
The contextual reminders engine is still to be written. In the meantime, KDL Memo already does this job, alone and offline.
Planned after the desktop version is stable, and only with properly controlled remote access.
Most assistants send every sentence to a remote server. Here, understanding happens on the machine by default; using an outside service stays a decision, not a hidden setting.
The language model runs on the computer: understanding your request, file names and screen content never leave the machine. The only exception today, noted above: voice transcription, which still relies on the browser's engine.
Local actions don't depend on any connection. In Guadeloupe, where the link can drop, an assistant that stops working for lack of network is useless.
No announced release date: this project moves forward between client jobs, and a date kept is worth more than a date displayed.
